As stated in the by-laws:

Criteria to be Eligible for Induction 

Induction into the Bass Fishing Hall of Fame is open to outstanding individuals involved in the sport of bass fishing as professional anglers, tournament organization leaders, members of the media and leaders of marine or fishing tackle manufacturing companies. Nominees must meet the following qualifications:

  1. Must have made a major impact on the world of bass fishing at the national level.
  2. Must have brought honor and credit to the sport of bass fishing.
  3. Must be at least 50 years old.
Procedure for Inductees

The Selection Committee shall review all nominees from the Nominating Committee. Each committee member shall vote for five nominees, ranking each from 1 through 5 in descending order of preference.

(a)   Should a member of the Selection Committee be nominated, he or she shall recuse himself or herself from voting, and the chair of the Nominating Committee shall vote in their place. If more than one panel member is on the ballot, the Nominating Committee will choose a member of the Nominating Committee to take the place of each Selection Committee member who is on the ballot.

(b)  Selection Committee voting is to be done in private.

(c)   Each Selection Committee member will submit his or her ballot to the Hall of Fame home office, where votes will be tabulated and scored on the basis of 5 points for first place, 4 points for second place, 3 for third, 2 for fourth and 1 for fifth.
