ICAST 2026
Executive Director Barbara Bowman and Board Members John Mazurkiewicz, Neil Paul, Pete Robbins, Keith Stevenson & Gene Gillialand attended ICAST 2026, the sportfishing industry’s premier trade show. The event provided an opportunity to strengthen existing relationships with Hall of Fame supporters, connect with Hall of Fame inductees, and build new partnerships that can help advance the Hall’s mission.
One highlight of the week was participation in the American Sportfishing Association’s “Party with a Purpose,” which showcases organizations dedicated to angler engagement, conservation, and the future of fishing. Alongside organizations such as the National Professional Anglers Association, Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, and Mighty Rivers Foundation, the Bass Fishing Hall of Fame shared its work preserving the history and legacy of bass fishing while inspiring future generations.
The event also opened doors for potential collaborations with industry partners. Discussions with GSM Outdoors included opportunities to feature historical products associated with Hall of Famer Gary Yamamoto through a special display at the Hall of Fame venue. Additional conversations focused on future product collaborations and expanding corporate support through auction donations and sponsorship opportunities.
A memorable moment from ICAST was seeing Bass Fishing Hall of Fame inductee Bill Dance receive the American Sportfishing Association’s prestigious Impact Award during the State of the Industry Breakfast. Presented by Steve Harvey, Johnny Morris, and ASA President Glenn Hughes, the award recognized Dance’s lifetime of influence and service to the fishing industry. The honor was a fitting tribute to one of the sport’s most influential ambassadors and a reminder of the type of legacy the Hall of Fame exists to celebrate.
Bassmaster High School National Championship
Shortly after ICAST, the Hall of Fame traveled to Kentucky Lake to participate in the Strike King Bassmaster High School Fishing National Championship, where more than 200 qualified teams from across the country competed for a national title.
During registration and the pre-tournament angler briefing, Neil Paul, president elect of the HOF, was given the opportunity to address anglers, boat captains, coaches, and B.A.S.S. Nation leaders about the Hall’s mission, scholarship opportunities, and conservation grant programs. Interest in these programs was strong, particularly among state youth directors and fishing leaders looking for ways to support student anglers and conservation efforts in their communities.
Throughout the first two days of competition, the Hall of Fame maintained a presence at the weigh-ins, engaging with anglers, parents, college coaches, and supporters. These conversations helped raise awareness of the Hall’s mission while highlighting the scholarship and conservation opportunities available through the organization.
Perhaps most importantly, the event placed the Bass Fishing Hall of Fame directly in front of the next generation of anglers and industry leaders. Seeing hundreds of young competitors passionately pursuing the sport reinforced the importance of preserving bass fishing’s rich history while supporting its future growth. Their enthusiasm, dedication, and sportsmanship serve as a promising reminder that the future of bass fishing is in good hands.
From the industry’s largest trade show to the nation’s premier high school championship, these events strengthened the Hall’s connections throughout the sport and furthered our commitment to celebrating the people, traditions, and future of bass fishing.
