Ohio River Bass Aid Makes a Big First-Year Impact

The Bass Fishing Hall of Fame is proud to recognize one of our conservation grant partners, the Ohio River Bass Alliance, for the tremendous success of its inaugural Ohio River Bass Aid Team Tournament, held July 11 at Tanner’s Creek on the Ohio River in Lawrenceburg, Indiana.

What began as a first-year event quickly exceeded expectations, drawing 98 teams from five states to compete while supporting a shared commitment to improving one of the nation’s most important bass fisheries. Based on the enthusiasm and positive feedback received from anglers, organizers are already projecting participation to grow to 150 teams or more in 2027.

The tournament awarded thousands of dollars in cash and prizes across four divisions, including Open, Adult/Youth, Co-Ed, and Senior categories. More importantly, the event successfully raised $40,628 through sponsorships, entry fees, raffles, donations, and crowdfunding efforts.

Those funds will have a direct impact on the fishery. The proceeds will allow the Ohio River Bass Alliance to stock approximately 24,000 largemouth bass fingerlings into the Markland Pool of the Ohio River this October, helping strengthen bass populations and support the long-term health of the fishery.

This project exemplifies the type of work the Bass Fishing Hall of Fame seeks to support through its conservation grant program. By investing in organizations that combine community engagement with tangible conservation outcomes, the Hall is helping preserve and enhance bass fishing opportunities for future generations.
